Islamic State claimed responsibility on Tuesday for the bomb attacks in Sri Lanka that killed 321 people in what officials believe was retaliation for assaults on mosques in New Zealand.
The latest number of dead in the Sri Lanka church bombings
of Christians and Catholics on Easter Sunday morning has now risen to 321 people, which may go higher still. Even more shocking is that the Islamic State, or ISIS, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." James 4:14 (KJV)
Outside of the
Zion Evangelical Christian Church, the bombings in Sri Lanka on Sunday also
targeted Catholic churches like St. Anthony’s Shrine in Colombo, the capital; St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo; as well as high-end hotels in Colombo, including the Shangri-La, the Cinnamon Grand and the Kingsbury. The Sunday School kids at Zion were asked if they would "die for Jesus" just minutes before the bomb went off. They said they would...then they did.
The Democratic Left in America
still cannot bring themselves to call this for what it is, blatant persecution of Christians and Catholics. But when 49 Muslims were killed in March, they were quite vocal with calls to protects Muslims and their freedom of religion. The Washington Post today said that if you were upset over the killings in Sri Lanka, then
you must be a far-right extremist on a par with the Nazis. This is how the Left treats Christians, with utter contempt and unabashed hatred.
Minutes after Sunday School class said they would die for Christ, half killed in Sri Lanka bomb blast
FROM THE CHRISTIAN POST: Just minutes after expressing their willingness to die for Christ, half the children from one Sunday School class at Zion Church in Batticaloa were reportedly killed in the Easter Sunday suicide bomb attacks in Sri Lanka.
“Today was an Easter Sunday school at the church and we asked the children how many of you willing to die for Christ? Everyone raised their hands," Caroline Mahendran, a Sunday School teacher at the church,
said, according to Israeli public figure
Hananya Naftali. "Minutes later, they came down to the main service and the blast happened. Half of the children died on the spot.”
The report comes as the
death toll from the bomb attacks on several churches and luxury hotels in the island nation, where Christians make up less than 10 percent of the 20 million population, rose to nearly 300 Monday with at least 500 wounded.

Islamic State claims Sri Lanka blasts, as government says probe making progress
FROM REUTERS: The claim, issued through the group’s AMAQ news agency, was made after Sri Lanka said two domestic Islamist groups with suspected links to foreign militants were suspected to have been behind the attacks at three churches and four hotels. About 500 people were also wounded in the bombings.
Three sources told Reuters that Sri Lankan intelligence officials had been warned hours earlier by India that attacks by Islamists were imminent. It was not clear what action, if any, was taken. President Maithripala Sirisena said he would change the heads of the defense forces following their failure to act on the intelligence.
“I will completely restructure the police and security forces in the coming weeks. I expect to change the heads of defense establishments within the next 24 hours,” Sirisena said in an address to the nation.
“The security officials who got the intelligence report from a foreign nation did not share it with me. I have decided to take stern action against these officials.”
