Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats celebrated the dark holiday of Halloween today by pushing through and successfully voting on passage of the first stage of ground rules for proceeding forward with the impeachment of President Trump. Things just got real. However divided this country was yesterday pales in comparison to the rift that was opened up today in Congress. Why are the Democrats doing this? Because Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren or any of the other Democrats running for office in 2020 are incapable of beating Donald Trump in a fair, head to head fight. And just like that, Beto went bye-bye. But the real story is how Creepy Joe Biden is in fourth place behind (pardon the pun) gay mayor Pete Buttigieg. For Biden, a former United States vice president, to be behind newbie gay mayor Pete is the proverbial handwriting on the wall, his run is also done. The really interesting thing is that none of the candidates still in the running will be able to beat Donald Trump in a head to head battle, so expect the current impeachment hoax frenzy to continue unabated at full speed. That's the real plan the Democrats have for beating Trump, in fact, it's their only plan. Beto O'Rourke drops out of 2020 presidential race FROM FOX NEWS: Beto O'Rourke entered the race in March to great fanfare after nearly defeating Texas incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz in the 2018 midterms but struggled to gain traction in the massive Democratic primary field. Beto O’Rourke was in Iowa, ahead of a planned appearance at an event in Des Moines, when he announced his exit from the race. On Friday, an emotional O’Rourke addressed a group of supporters after the news broke. “This has been the honor of my lifetime,” he told them. “I love you all and I know that I’ll be seeing you down the road.” President Trump reacted to the news by tweeting Friday, "Oh no, Beto just dropped out of race for President despite him saying he was 'born for this.' I don’t think so!" O'Rourke sought to make gun control a top issue in his campaign, most notably after the Aug. 3 mass shooting in his hometown of El Paso. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) with 19 percent, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D) with 18 percent and Biden with 17 percent. All four fall close to the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percentage points. No other candidate was near the top four, who were distantly trailed by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) with 4 percent, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) with 3 percent and entrepreneur Andrew Yang with 3 percent. The survey is among a series of recent polls showing Warren leading the field in Iowa. A RealClearPolitics average of polls showed the senator ahead of the former vice president by an average of 5 percentage points Friday morning. Connecticut: Where Ridicule is a Crime by Alan M. Dershowitz  •  November 2, 2019 at 5:00 am       Among the most fundamental First Amendment rights is to ridicule — regardless of the reason. The same is true of holding people or groups up to contempt. Were Connecticut's absurd statute to be upheld — which it will not be — it could be applied to comedians, op-ed writers, politicians, professors and other students. And what about "creed"? Is being a conservative or a Trump supporter a creed that cannot be ridiculed?... [T]herein lies its greatest danger: selective prosecution based on current political correctness. Precisely the kind of unpopular speech which the First Amendment was designed to protect... Such hateful expressions [Anti-Semitic, anti-Christian and anti-conservative] are not only tolerated, they are often praised as "progressive" by some of the same students and faculty members who would censor politically incorrect hate speech. Under the First Amendment, such selective censorship is intolerable. All who care about civil liberties, regardless of race, should now join with the racist students in opposing their criminal prosecution and demanding that the Connecticut statute be struck down as unconstitutional. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the president of the university should lead the campaign against criminalizing speech that ridicules. Now that would take courage in our age of political correctness and at a time when the hard left is demanding "free speech for me but not for thee." But this is not an age in which courage is widely practiced, especially on university campuses, and most especially by administrators. (Image source: iStock) Two students at the University of Connecticut have been charged with the crime of ridiculing African Americans by shouting the N-word as part of a childishly inappropriate game. A video of the incident went viral and generated protests on and off the campus. Outrageous as shouting this racist epithet is, the First Amendment protects it from criminal prosecution or other governmental sanctions. The Connecticut General Statute under which the students were charged is just about as unconstitutional as any statute can be. It is not even a close case. It is a measure of their disquiet that Russian President Vladimir Putin received a warm reception during his recent visits to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, as Arab governments sought to weigh up their options in the event that they can no longer rely on Washington to safeguard their security requirements. Allowing Mr Putin a foothold in Syria is one thing; enabling the Kremlin open access to the oil-rich Gulf states is quite another, and is not a prospect that Mr Trump should entertain. From Washington's perspective, the Gulf states are vital allies in the Trump administration's confrontation with Tehran. So, rather than constantly sending signals that he is no longer interested in supported America's allies in the Middle East, the president should seek to reassure them that, while the nature of America's military dispositions in the region may be changing, Washington's support for its allies remains as strong as ever. Mr Trump might do well to understand that having the Gulf states on his side is vital if he is to succeed in his campaign to force Tehran to renegotiate the flawed nuclear deal. Preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons is, after all, just as important for the Trump administration as destroying the terrorist masterminds that run ISIS. From Washington's perspective, the Gulf states are vital allies in the Trump administration's confrontation with Tehran. President Trump should seek to reassure them that, while the nature of America's military dispositions in the region may be changing, Washington's support for its allies remains as strong as ever. Things are happening so fast now in the Middle East if you blink you'll miss it. In a stunning reversal, Trump has ordered US infantry troops and Bradley armored fighting vehicles have rolled into Syria to prevent the oil reserves of Syria from falling into the hands of Islamic terror group ISIS. "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." Matthew 24:6-8 (KJV) Across the oceans, things are happening fast here in America, too, as Democrats voted in Congress today to move forward with impeachment proceedings in their attempt to undo the 2016 election and prevent Trump's re-election in 2020. War in the Middle East, civil war in America, war everywhere you look. So look up, because that's coming soon too. Bradleys and Army infantry roll into Syria to help secure oil wells FROM MILITARY TIMES: Army Col. Myles B. Caggins III, a spokesman for the U.S.-led mission to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria, said the mechanized forces moving into Deir ez-Zor province, Syria, hailed from the 30th Armored Brigade Combat team, a National Guard unit from South Carolina. NBC News was first to report it, citing OIR commander Army Lt. Gen. Pat White, that Bradleys and Army grunts had crossed into Deir ez-Zor. Officials with the Pentagon and OIR did not detail the number of troops or armored vehicles tasked with protecting the oil wells in eastern Syria. But Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said Monday that American troops would continue to withdraw from northern Syria. “We are repositioning" U.S. forces to Deir ez-Zor to continue partnering with the SDF “to defeat ISIS remnants, protect critical infrastructure” and to deny ISIS access to revenue sources. "Mechanized forces provide infantry, maneuver, and firepower,”OIR tweeted Thursday. Myles B. Caggins III (@OIRSpox) October 31, 2019 Turkey launched operations on Oct. 9 to combat U.S.-backed Kurdish forces. Turkey believes the American anti-ISIS partner force in Syria is a terrorist group. The decision to redeploy American forces into Syria appears to be reversal by Trump of his much criticized plan to withdraw U.S. troops from the country. American military veterans who served in armor units have argued mechanized forces in Syria could add logistical and manpower strains for U.S. forces in Syria — countering Trump’s aim to withdraw from the region and end America’s involvement in forever wars. The oil wells in eastern Syria are a contentious issue. Analysts contend the decision to deploy American armor to safeguard Syrian oil was made due to the threat of Russian and Syrian armor in the region. How the Bradley will stack up to Russian armor is unknown. The small armor vehicle packs a 25 mm Bushmaster chain gun and is armed with the aging anti-tank missile system known as the TOW. But the Bradley could be highly effective against ISIS up-armored bomb-laden vehicles — a tactic that has grown in prominence among ISIS and Taliban fighters. READ MORE
