One of the things in the Bible that can trip up even the more mature Christian is understanding that the gospel that saved your soul in the Church Age, the gospel of the grace of God, is the very same thing that can damn your soul in the time of Jacob's trouble. Is that shocking to you? Does it sound like heresy? How about this one, Paul's gospel is not the only gospel in the Bible, far from it. There is no such thing as 'the' gospel outside the Church Age, in fact, there are many gospels, and none of them are interchangable.
"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Galatians 1:6-9 (KJB)

The word 'gospel' means 'good news', it does not necessarily mean 'Jesus saves' or you must be 'born again'. No one in the Old Testament knew the Name of Jesus Christ, and no one was born again. Yet we in the Church Age are commanded to believe on the name of Jesus Christ and that we 'must' be born again.
