The angel of the Lord appeared to Moses, Abraham, Jacob, Gideon, and Manoah just to name a few. The angel of the Lord is not the same as the angel Gabriel or the archangel Michael. Angels are 'ministering spirits', the Bible tells us, but angels are not the Angel of the Lord, that's Jesus Christ.
