When Saul's vision was restored, his new eyesight was now recalibrated for the 'long look' into eternity, and nothing would ever be easy or the same ever again
It's funny, as Bible believers we often say that Paul is our apostle and his gospel of the grace of God is our doctrine for the Church Age, and yet, isn't it odd how easily we can just gloss over what Paul has to tell us about the sufferings of this present time? One of the reasons for that is, if you live in a prosperous nation like America, it's hard to have the biblical 'long look' that Paul is trying to instill in us.
"For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (KJB)
There was a day when Saul was living the 'high life', had money in the bank, had powerful friends, and enjoyed the praise and acclaim of his fellow man. Only problem was that he was lost and headed for Hell like a bullet, living life with the 'short look', right up to the moment he saw a light brighter than the sun and became blind for a season. When his vision was restored, his new eyesight was now recalibrated for the 'long look' into eternity, and nothing would ever be easy or the same ever again. What is happening to Saul who became Paul? He is now a living 'template' for what the actual Christian life is all about. Paul is our ensample for us to follow, and indeed we are commanded to follow him as he follows the Lord Jesus Christ. Today I would like to bring you a message about the 'long look', and how you can have it to prepare yourself for eternity.
