What Is More Important To You Than The Book, The Blood And The Soon-Coming Blessed Hope Of Flight #777 On Titus213 Airlines?
My entrance into the kingdom of God didn't start with the shed blood of Jesus Christ, it started with a Book telling me about the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Now do you see how important that Book is?I do some of my best thinking while driving, and yesterday I had about 18 hours of "thinking time" whilst driving all the way from Florida up to North Jersey, where I was born and raised. While driving, I started thinking about all the times in the 31 years since I got saved, that the Lord got me through, made a way when there was no way, and did things for me that I was in no wise worthy to receive. I thought about where my walk with the Lord started, and it started with that Book. "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." Psalm 138:2 (KJB) How well I still remember that night on March 14th, 1991, when I opened that King James Bible for the the very first time, and I read what Jesus did for me on the cross. God loved me so much, that He died in my place on the cross. Jesus took on Himself the punishment that I so rightly deserved. All I had to do to be saved was make that Heavenly transaction, my sins for His righteousness. Alone in my room, with no Christian friends, never having been to a Christian church (I was a Catholic), I bowed my head, got on my knees and asked God to save me. My entrance into the kingdom of God didn't start with the shed blood of Jesus Christ, it started with a Book telling me about the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Now do you see how important that Book is? This is why we place such importance on having the right Bible, things that are different are not the same, and where the word of a King is, there is power. This is why we put such emphasis on our Free Bible and Gospel Tract Program, what is more important than putting God's preserved word in the hands of people who want it but can't afford it? "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 (KJB) As I drove all day and all night yesterday, I thought about the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ, how amazingly easy it is to get saved. The Bible tells you that you owe a debt that you cannot pay, and that Jesus paid a debt that He did not owe. Take that free payment and live for life everlasting, reject that payment and you pay for your sins for eternity in the Lake of Fire. What is more simple than that? You don't wind up in Hell for any sin you commit, you wind up in Hell because you rejected the payment for the sin you commit. Want to go to Heaven? Trust Jesus Christ. Want to go to Hell? Trust anything else, and you'll get there. I love our twice-weekly King James Bible studies, and I love it when the Lord takes us deep and shows us some stuff, but let me tell you something. Sometimes it's really good to pull off the to side and just do a little private shouting to the Lord for His mercy, grace and goodness in letting you get saved. Understanding the deep things of Bible prophecy is great, but so is remembering His great love for you on the cross, and the job He left you here to do! |
