NTEB RADIO BIBLE STUDY: When We Follow The Man With The Pitcher Of Water, He Leads Us All The Way To The Upper Room On Passover By Way Of Genesis 24
What do Eliezer, Rebekah and the man with the pitcher of water in the upper room in the New Testament have in common? As it turns out, plenty! It's a funny thing that when Jesus went to the cross and built His Church corporately, His disciples met in an upper room after being directed to a man bearing a pitcher of water. The Bible offers no word of explanation for this singular event. Who was this man, why is he never identified, and what is the meaning of the pitcher of water? As it turns out, when we go back to Genesis 24, we see an amazing picture prophecy of the New Testament Church in the Old Testament, just sitting there waiting for someone to come along and connect the dots to find it. "And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in." Luke 22:10 (KJB) On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are taking a road trip with the disciples, and journey with them as they go and meet the mysterious man bearing a pitcher of water. On the surface it seems a tad odd, especially since neither Matthew or Luke tells us anything about the man. But applying 2 Timothy 2:15 yields us bountiful fruit when we go spend some time with Eliezer and Rebekah in the city of Nahor. There we will find the start of the New Testament Church, laid out in gorgeous typology. Yes, the low-hanging fruit of Genesis 24 is Eliezer is a type of the Holy Spirit, and Rebekah is a type of the Body of Christ, but guess what? We are only stopping to scoop up the low-hanging fruit on our way to the top of the tree! We invite you to join us for this NTEB Rightly Dividing King James Bible Study and we hope it will be a blessing to you.
