Jesus said that He would build His church and that the 'gates of Hell' would not prevail against it, and 2,000 years ago it was crystal-clear to see who and what the Church actually was. But here in the 21st-century, things get quite murky with regards to 'the church'. Is it the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, the Anglican Church, maybe it's the Presbyterian Church? What about the Seventh Day Adventists, the Mormons, the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Roman Catholic Church? Keep in mind they all disagree. Which one is it? "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18 (KJB) On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are going back to the first century to see how the church started, and what it ultimately became in the Church Age under the leader Jesus handpicked to lead it, the apostle Paul.
