Social media, technology, and the relentless onslaught of "the news" are not our friends, they are distractions sent by the Enemy, and we need to set our face 'like a flint', and resolve here and now to keep the LORD set always before us, so that we will not be moved.
We live in a day and age of tremendous movement, things change do rapidly that we cannot recall what life was like 3 months ago, much less 30 years ago. The news cycle is so swift that the incoming headlines give us near amnesia for the previous ones, resulting in a perpetual sense of being off-balance. But the writer of Psalm 16 knew all about that, and we would do well to pay a visit there and stop in for a spiritual tune-up.
"I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope." Psalm 16:7-9 (KJB)
All through the Old Testament, the various writers speak constantly about aligning yourself with the LORD, so that when storms come and they always do, you will not be moved off the place where the LORD has set you. If you're saved, the Devil cannot "un-save" you, and he cannot take your soul, but he can appeal to your eye-gates and ear-gates in the hopes of moving you away from standing before the LORD. Sometimes, a Christian can be moved to an extent that they in this life can never get back, and in doing so, render themselves moot for the cause of Christ.
