Many Christians stay away from Revelation and the 7 churches because it's 'too difficult', and tonight we will look at how to resolves those difficulties and achieve Bible harmony.
The 7 Churches in the book of Revelation seem to fuel an endless debate about exactly what dispensation is being referenced, but when we let scripture interpret scripture as we are supposed to do when we rightly divide, the answer comes into view pretty quickly. One of the clues that stand out immediately has to do with the things that were, the things that are, and the things that are to come. This curious expression is found in 4 places in the first chapter alone, think it's pretty important? You better believe it.
"Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;" Revelation 1:19 (KJB)
On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are looking at 7 churches mentioned in the book of Revelation, and when we do, we see a three-fold nature to these churches. Upon review, it becomes apparent that these are 3 churches that existed in John's day, that exist in our day, and that will exist during the time of Jacob's trouble. But the question is how to understand all that dispensationally and rightly. Fortunately our King James Bible does not leave us to our own devices, and with a little 2 Timothy 2:15 'elbow grease', this opening enigma of Revelation begins to give itself up as the Holy Spirit guides us. Secondly, when we understand the interwoven parenthetical nature of Revelation, which interrupts the chronology on a regular basis, further light it able to be attained.
